The other night I made a Madonna tribute video for my music blog showcasing a medley of her early hits, along with photos from back in those days. I ended the video thanking Madonna for causing a commotion . . . music and fashion that you can't help think about when reminiscing about 80's pop culture.
Love her or hate her, it takes a special person to cause a worldwide commotion with the magnitude that Madonna did. She was born to rock the world . . .
The video took me back to 1985 and Live Aid . . . in my opinion, the greatest concert ever. The highlights of that concert were the live performances of the The Cars and of course, Madonna.
A quote from Wikipedia . . .
"When Madonna got on stage, despite the 95°F ambient temperature, she proclaimed 'I'm not taking shit off today!' referring to the recent release of early nude photos of her in Playboy and Penthouse magazines."
You Tube currently has a video of her Live Aid performance of the song "Holiday" which I will not even include here because it will more than likely disappear soon.
In my opinion, Madonna was her best in the early years although her music still rocks and remains among my favorites. As a dedicated fan, I was extremely disappointed when she opted to become overtly vulgar and even too sexual for an open minded person as myself. When she walked the streets nude with a photographer at her side and coming out with the book of nude photos, I felt she went too far . . . her all time low.
Having said that, I still love her as an artist and admire her determination to be true to herself. That is the attitude which made her a star.
The following photo tribute and medley of hits showcases her contribution to pop culture and is a reminder of the commotion magnitude.
You still rock Madonna!
